Grön Paviljong på Tegelbacken i Stockholm
I centrala Stockholm – mellan Stadshuset, Centralstationen och Rosenbad samt under ett antal motorleder – finns en av stadens mest ogästvänliga platser: Tegelbacken.
För att råda bot på detta föreslår vi en paviljong som dels ska fungera som ett informationscenter, dels som en urban grön lunga i ett bortglömt hörn av staden.
Platsen för den gröna paviljongen är korsningen Tegelbacken/Vasagatan i Stockholm, precis bredvid Centralstationen. Här passerar mängder av fotgängare på väg till eller från staden med tåg och flyg, eller på väg till populära turistmål som Stadshuset, Gamla Stan och Slottet.
Byggnadens fasader är i glas. Gröna lameller på insidan utgör solavskärmning och fäste för affischer. Även fasaden mot Centralbron är grön.
Byggnadens slutliga färgsättning kom till i samarbete med Alcro som vid lanseringen av sitt nyhetsbrev gav Rahel Belatchew fria händer att göra något med kulören “Green” som är en del av Alcros kollektion ad.08.
På natten ska paviljongen vara upplyst och fungera som en stor lampa för att skapa trygghet i det offentliga rummet.
Den gröna paviljongen ska vara mer eller mindre självförsörjande genom användning av spetsteknik från svenska clean tech-företag.
Green Pavilion for one of Stockholm’s most unfriendly places
Tegelbacken is one of Stockholm’s most unfriendly places situated at the heart of the city, between the City Hall, the Central Railway station and Rosenbad, the home of the government.
Today, the place is mainly a traffic hub where cars, trains, cyclists and pedestrians cross, much at the expense of the latter. It is also one of the main tourist passages between the Central Railway station and different tourist attractions such as the Old town, the City Hall and the Castle.
The unfriendly nature of the place makes it difficult for visitors to find their way around as much as it fails in conveying a fair image of the city.
This analysis led to our design proposal of a Green Pavilion.
The Green Pavilion is an information centre that will give Tegelbacken the focal point it lacks today and provide by passers with useful information.
The curved facades of the building are made of highly insulated glass. Vertical screens painted green on the inside provide for shade and can also display posters.
The final colour scheme of the building was the result of a collaboration with colour manufacturer Alcro who, while launching their new newsletter asked Rahel Belatchew to make use of the colour “Green”, a part of the Alcro ad.08 collection.
At night the pavilion will act as a bright torch making the public space more secure. The Green Pavilion will be a more or less self-supporting building with use of the latest techniques from Swedish clean tech companies and is part of RB Arkitektur’s work with ecological buildings whith previous projects such as “Eco House” for Willa Nordic.
